The countdown

When this page was built it was 5:05:26 PM on Thursday, October 1 in Asia/Karachi, and the next 9:00 AM is 15 hours 54 minutes away, at 9:00 AM Friday, October 2. That is 954 minutes or 57,274 seconds. The figure at the top of the page keeps ticking in your browser, second by second, so you can leave the page open and watch it run down.

Which time zone is used

The countdown runs on your own device clock and time zone, which the page detects automatically (Asia/Karachi when the page was built). Visitors in different zones therefore each count down to their own 9:00 AM. For a fixed conversion between two named zones, use the time zone converter.

How the clock time is chosen

If 9:00 AM has not happened yet today, the countdown runs to today's 9:00 AM. If it has already passed, it runs to 9:00 AM tomorrow, so the number is never negative. When the countdown reaches zero the page rolls over to the next day. On the two days a year when clocks change for daylight saving, the wall-clock time is used, so the number of real seconds can be an hour longer or shorter than a normal day.

Ways people use it

A countdown to a clock time is handy for the end of a shift, a lunch break, a class or a meeting, a deadline at midnight, a bedtime, a flight boarding time or the moment a store opens or closes. Bookmark the page for the time you check most often, and use the time-duration calculator when you need the length of a span between two clock times instead.
