Enter a birth date and a date of interest to see the exact age in years, months and days on that date, plus the days lived and the next birthday. This is the check most forms need: age on the first day of school, on a deadline, on a race day or on a retirement date. Today is Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Age is counted in completed years, so each anniversary of the birth date adds one year. Months are whole months since the last birthday and days are the days since the last monthly anniversary. If the birth date is February 29, the birthday in a common year is taken as February 28, although some places treat March 1 as the legal date.
Today's age answers a different question from the age on a fixed date. A child who is 4 years and 11 months old today may be 5 on the cut-off date, and an adult 64 today may be 65 on the date a benefit begins. Use this calculator whenever a rule names a specific date.
